| | Hi there,
Why are we showing ERTS and STLD positions that are more than 15 days (thus more than 10 trading days) old? I thought there was a time stop?
Rene - any thoughts re improving the system in light of the recent devastation?
Thanks - C. |

Hi Christian,
both positions ERTS and STLD were closed on 2008-10-16. The latest position of these "overlapping" position was opened 2008-10-03, so they were 13 calendar days old, with two weekends this is less than 10 trading days.

I have a strong belief in statistical methods to develop and improve trading systems. The recent "crisis" is one of these "rare events" which are very hard to "model" with statistics, mostly because these events are "rare".
I am convinced that the ideas behind Ruby, Topaz and Pearl still work and are robust. Unfortunately a few days of "market breakdown" seem to be enough to destroy a long and good trading record.
We work on improvements... |

When volatility is this extreme, you MUST factor this into your leverage. |

What is the C2 Score?
Collective2 rates every trading advisor in its database and assigns a score between 100 and 1000.
In general, a rating above 500 is good. A rating above 700 is excellent.
Collective2 Ratings are recalculated daily based on the entire performance history in our database. The exact formula we use is proprietary, but there are several key variables that go into the Collective2 Rating. One of the most important factors is the length of time we have been able to observe the performance of the trader. Another key factor is the amount by which the trader over-performs or under-performs the S&P 500 index. Finally, the choppiness of the trader's results is taken into account. Certainly a more consistent trader will be rated more highly than a trader with erratic results.
