Hi,
I subscribed to the trial for TB and Risk Averse Forex a couple days ago, and set everything up for autotrading. Yesterday, an trade came through with a conditional stop and a conditional limit order attached to it. The trade was filled, and the conditional orders were pending. So everything seemed to be working. But this morning, the conditional orders are gone. They weren't canceled by the system, there's no entries in the TB log about errors or cancellations, so I have no idea what happened. Anyone else have problems with orders disappearing like that?

I'm using the forex demo from MB Trading, if that matters. The first night, it looked like they shut down their server for 5 min or so around midnight, and there were several connection errors in the morning, so I set up the automatic logoff/login feature, and it the last two nights I haven't seen any connection errors.

Thanks,
-lcg

I'm pretty sure they were GTC. I'll send the log when I get home.

Loren,

You can't rely on demo accounts. They can reset your account at any time while they do maintenance, and they generally don't behave like live acounts, especially for fills which will occur at strange prices compared to the live market.

The only good way to run a simulation is with IB's paper trading accounts but you need a live account at IB first.

Demo accounts may be unreliable, but why can't TB reconnect automatically? Every time it loses the connection to the broker, I have to close TB and reopen it. The scheduled logoff/logon works, but not reconnects after connection lost.

Loren,

Despite appearances, TB does not handle the connection to MBT: that's handled by the Navigator software with is invisibly hosted by TB (and any 3rd party software connecting to MBT).

The issue is Navigator will only try once to reconnect to the Order server. If it fails a second time it will display the "connecting to order server" window indefinitely. MBT's position on the issue is this a feature to alert the user that the connection failed.

Working around this will take a while but it's on my list.
