| | A trade that eats away at 50% of the portfolio value due to draw-down, and didn't have a stop-loss to mitigate such a catastrophic loss? Is this the sign of a mature trader who exercises diligent risk management? |

I remember the thread "Hello" of 5/09/07. Evidently, I was too naive, again. And Ross wasn't. |

I have reviewed, studied, free-trialed, subscribed to, or otherwise scrutinized over 1500 systems the last 12 years. I can smell trouble usually before it starts. About 95-99% of systems are useless.
Not surprisingly, most of these systems are usually based on Gann, Elliott Wave, Fibonacci, astrology, or technical analysis (which hs been proven useless multiple times, save for possibly support/resistance, seasonal influence and trends). But the believers and gurus of these fields whine and howl when you ask for an independent, longterm, successful track record.
Someone backtests an idea, finds something that looks good, and tries to sell it. Terrible money management and discipline usually accompany it.
Many of these systems usually start out with slick graphics & hype templates purchased for $5 off the web, and they often say "I will help you to be a successful trader..."
*sigh* there is an endless supply... |

He's down to $30K - and we have yet to hit bottom! This is a drawn-out pattern that ends the April/May corrective and resets the index. Let's see if he keeps holding, and refuses to cut his losses until there's a margin call. |

From what I can see, he's buying calls. I don't understand why he would get a margin call. |

Is anyone subscribed to this system? (probably to optimistic again:) Without this we don't know the trade and the DD can be a C2 error. |

Well, this is perhaps not what Lew meant, but between 5/21/07 and 5/24/07 he made 4 daytrades so in a real brokerage his account would now be coded as a Pattern Daytrading account and then he would get a margin call when the account value falls below $25K. |

Margin on calls or margin calls on, that's the question |

Lew You had to give something for a charity of baby milk of a system vendor. Where is your heart to feed babies of homeless system vendors? lol
Let's see if he keeps holding, and refuses to cut his losses until there's a margin call.
No. As I said the kind of speculation might be based on pure luck. When luck is over, the game is over. From the point the next guru didn't show any the game luck, at least.
>i>I don't understand why he would get a margin call.
He won't have a margin call. He'll have an expiration. At the kind of trade sizes it's not better in options than margin call ;)

"He said that he trade the sizes on his account for last few years."
He lasted exactly one month before imploding. I suspect he hasn't been trading this way for years. My two cents.
