1.) If I setup a trading account via Bulldog FX, I can use the "Trade Permissions" option to auto-trade (bot-trade) any "Trading System" here on C2. Is that correct?

2.) Of all the auto-trade brokers available (C2-compatible), which is the best? Do any allow users to trade Forex AND stocks AND futures, etc? I.E. an all-in-one solution?

3.) I have already looked at the API information, and it looks awesome. I am tempted to code my own bot, but I don't want to reinvent the wheel. Does anyone know of software/code which can a) backtest rule-based forex logic, b) run rule-based trading in a "live" enviornment and c) interface with the C2 API?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I really wouldn't rely on one opinion. You may wind up with a recommendation from an inexperienced trader.

The answer you will probably get from most traders is Interactive Brokers (IB). I don't use them at the moment, but they are cheap, big, popular, and allow you to trade everything...

I thought Tradestation did not allow C2/autotrading of accounts. Did that change, or is it true for Forex?

True for importing from C2 to a TS account. False for exporting from TS to a C2 account.

MetaTrader current allows for sending trades from an EA to Collective2. Shortly (hopefully) it will allow for receiving signals from C2...

2) Theoretically, BulldogFX should be the best for forex, but it doesn't do stocks or futures. Some are fond of Open eCry for futures. So I doubt that one solution is the best for all.

2) Interactive Brokers (IB) offers an all-in-one solution.

All brokers have their pros and cons, and there's not a single best for all purposes.

However, for a specific system and capital size it should be partially possible to single out the best broker by calculating the cost for different brokers/autotrading combinations taking into account the following costs:
- broker commissions
- broker market data fees
- broker minimum monthly fees
- auto trading per-trade cost (e.g. Bulldogfx)
- auto trading fixed cost (e.g. TradeBullet)
- cost of spread (esp. forex)
- cost of intrest

Some hidden costs you can only discover when trading a system live:
- slippage (due to broker)
- slippage (due to auto trading execution speed)
- reliability

Thanks for the reply. You have sparked a new question:

When looking at the C2 record of a Forex trading system, is the spread accounted for? If so, what spread is assumed?

In other words, I see a $100 gain on X/Y/20XX - is this $100 profit (over spread), or a simple $100 gain on which I must still cover the spread?

Yes, the spread is built into the results. For most common pairs, we use Interactive Brokers' spread, which is extremely competitive. For exotic pairs, the spread assumed by C2 is wider. In all cases, though, spreads are built into the best-case hypothetical results.

And ss you know Matthew, IB charges commission for Forex trades and C2 always reports 0 commission for Forex systems which is not realistic. I've commented on this before and I hope you will fix this either by using a realistic no-commission spread or adding commission used by IB or EFX.

"I've commented on this before and I hope you will fix this either by using a realistic no-commission spread or adding commission used by IB or EFX."

I am no forex trader, but why is this an issue? ALL trades on C2 are assumed to not include commission. Futures, stocks, forex, etc. That is why under the equity curve, the default is best case, no comission. You can select to view by realism, with commission, or both.

So again, I do not understand why you think there is a problem????????

I think what Panu means is that for forex systems, the curve "Best-case, with commis." is identical to the standard curve (without commissions).
