I have been approached by a broker (with MF Global) who wanted to offer my system, but he didn't want to use C2 (said it was slow in execution). He mentioned Ninja Trader as an alternative. In researching Ninja Trader, it was excessively complex for what would be manually entered signals. The best thing would be something that would send my signals to C2 as well as this broker. Would this be a good candidate for this, or is there something better? |

My execution speed is around 5 to 10 seconds - from when I press the Send Order button on C2 until I see the fill on my Open ECry account. Too slow?

Perhaps his information is out of date-- an earlier version of C2? |

Open ECry uses C2's "Gen2" (or Gen3) autotrading. Apparently Trader68 uses Gen1. I can't speak personally about Gen1 execution speed, but I'd guess that it is mostly dependant upon your internet connection. Some here have used it with various day trading systems with, as I understand, reasonable success.

The execution speed of Trader68 is limited by the C2 API. The way AutoTrading clients obtain signals is they have to poll the C2 server periodically. The C2 server limits the frequency of these polls to around 7 seconds the last time I ran an experiment, but the interval can vary based on server load. The time it takes Trader68 to process the signal once it is received is less than a second.
Your observation of a 5 to 10 second delay is in line with what is expected.

Think for a long moment. Why do you think the broker is trash-talking C2 and suggesting you execute at another platform? Could it be because he receives compensation at that platform and not on C2? Hmm. |

I guess I don't know the business very well, but if a trader's account is with a certain broker, don't they get the commission for all trades executed? Is it because they aren't able to interface with C2 for some reason? |

If a customer uses C2 AutoTrading, then the broker who approached you won't be compensated in the way that he wants to be compensated, because he hasn't signed up as a compatible AutoTrade broker.
However, this broker (and any broker reading this message) can write me an email (matthew at http://collective2.com) and we can structure an above-board and legal framework where the broker will receive 100% of his normal commissions for customers that use C2 AutoTrading. But we need to set up the partnership / tech interface for this to happen. He has not done this. Usually we can get things working in a matter of days, not weeks.
What the gentleman who approached you is trying to do is to use Collective2 as a scouting service for trading systems. He simply contacts everyone on the site and tries to cut separate deals with them. He also spouts misleading info about problems and "slippage with C2 AutoTrading" (although of course he would have no idea about these, since he has never actually used C2 AutoTrading). It drives me nuts, and I encourage you -- and everyone else reading this -- to stay far away from people like this. |
